Becoming a Donor

You can become a donor to the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis by  making a gift of any amount to our Community Partnership Fund or to any one of hundreds of other funds. From small gifts to large ones, there is a way for everyone to participate in building our community through philanthropy.

Not quite ready to open your own fund? Check out GiVE 365, our new giving program for those who want to make a difference in our community together.

If you prefer to create your own charitable fund, please call us at (901) 728-4600. Creating your own fund means:

  • You'll provide ongoing support to your favorite organizations.
  • You may choose different nonprofit organizations each year during your lifetime.
  • You make your own choices, or take advantage of our staff's expertise to help you address the community's most pressing challenges.
  • You have the opportunity to distribute gifts during your lifetime or to leave a lasting legacy --or both.

You may be interested in the Community Foundation's Endowment Circle, which recognizes those individuals and organizations that have made unrestricted gifts, or who have shared with the Community Foundation their plans to make such a gift, to the Foundation for the purpose of endowing the Foundation. To be recognized as a member of the Endowment Circle, you must make a gift of at least $10,000. If you would like to become part of the Endowment Circle, please call Bob Fockler or Patti Smith at (901) 728-4600.

As a donor, you get an inside look at community issues

Among the many good things about being a donor with the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis are the chances you have to learn about what's going on in your community and what nonprofit organizations are doing to support, change or improve things.

Donors last fall learned from a panel of local and national experts about major efforts being made in expanding and improving green spaces. The briefing features details of the comprehensive design plan for Shelby Farms as well as an overview of the Wolf River Conservancy and the Mississippi River Corridor and how their activities complement the new design for Shelby Farms. Earlier this year, our donors were treated to Small Plates - A Performing Arts Sampler, an evening of dance, music and theater at the new Playhouse on the Square.

Expansion and conservation of many of our community's green spaces means more and varied access to outdoor activities, such as horseback riding at Shelby Farms.
