Year-end dates & deadlines

So that we can provide fund holders with the best possible service, please keep these important dates in mind regarding charitable gifts for the 2026 tax year:

  • Gifts of appreciated securities (stocks, mutual funds, ETFs, bonds, etc.) must be received by end of day on December 31, 2026. Please be aware there may be a delay between initiating and settlement of the security: Plan accordingly!

Please indicate donor(s) name and fund to be credited along with the transaction. Email all details to [email protected] as soon as possible to avoid delays in processing.

  • Checks sent via the U.S. Postal Service must be postmarked on or before December 31, 2026. Make checks payable to the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis and indicate the fund name in the memo line. Please mail checks to our secure lockbox at:

Email Donor Operations Manager Rosa Fleming or call her at (901) 722-0028 for assistance. You may also reach out to [email protected].

Year-end grant recommendations

For nonprofit recipients to receive grant checks in 2026*, recommendations should be made by noon on Monday, December 28. Donor-advised grant recommendations should be made online through our secure donor portal.

Please note: The Community Foundation has been working to streamline our cash management and grantmaking processes. As a result, any suggested grant of $1 million or more may require 3 additional days processing time. Please contact your Donor Relationship Manager (viewable on your Donor Dashboard) ahead of your request so that we can accommodate it as soon as possible.

*The timing of donor-advised grants has no effect on your 2026 charitable income tax donations since grants are not contributions.

Year-end office hours

Staff are available by email and phone during normal business hours to assist you, including the last day of the year.

We will be closed to observe the Christmas holiday on December 24 and December 25, but will be available via email and phone weekdays through December 31, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Please note that our office closes at 4:00 p.m. on Fridays.
